A York artist will have an exhibition of her work at the Great Southern Gallery on the York-Lakes Road at Woottating.

Sharon Ellis  will have paintings and sculpture on show at the gallery in June and July. The exhibition is titled, Winter has Arrived and will feature some of her new and unique work, each a one-off creation.

Sharon said, "The exhibition celebrates the use of ritualistic process to come to terms with the strange relationships we have with the living, the dead and the interconnectedness of everything beyond our comprehension”.

Mandy Nielsen who owns and runs the gallery with husband Soren said a selection of Sharon’s original paintings as well as artwork from a wide range of Australian artists is always available at the gallery.

Also available is handcrafted timber furniture all made on site by Soren and son, Bjarne.  They also design and make furniture to order. In addition, the gallery has gifts including a new range of carved timber candle sculptures for romantic winter evenings and cosy alpaca and mohair scarves for the cold weather, Mandy said.

Great Southern Gallery is located about 20 minutes west of York and open on Saturdays and Sundays 10.00am to 4.00pm.
