YORK A CREDITABLE THIRD IN SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Great Southern Region swimming championships attracted 120 swimmers to the York pool on February 8.

The York team was made up of members aged 8 to 25. As there was no travel involved many of the swimmers were competing for the first time outside club and school swimming. The result was 30 medals and some amazing personal best times.

York proudly came third behind Albany and Narrogin. The swimmers from these clubs train all year round in heated pools and are stiff competition.

The York pool will see more action on March 15 with the York distance meet which attracts competitors from all over the state including the city. Swimmers challenge themselves in distances up to 400 metres.
