York farmer, Daniel Ryan, was thrilled at winning the 2007 draw for prompt payment of his Shire rates. Chez Mitchell won second prize.

For many years the York Shire has held a draw in place of a discount as an incentive for ratepayers to pay their rates promptly. The names of those that pay by the due date go into the draw.

Last year’s winners received their awards at the Shire Council’s monthly meeting on December 17. First prize was a $1,000 bank account sponsored by the York and Districts Community Bank.

Second prize was fuel vouchers worth $200 sponsored by Fuel Distributors of WA.
